Privacy policy

Effective October 5, 2026

Short version: your library stays on your device. My Bookshelf has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and the developer never receives your books, notes or reading history.

What is stored, and where

Everything you enter (books, ratings, notes, quotes, tags, goals, reading sessions, covers you add, your room settings and the weather location you choose) is saved only in your browser or app storage on your own device. It is not sent to the developer or to any server run by the developer.

If you delete the app, clear your browser data or lose your device, this information is gone unless you exported a backup. Backups are files you save yourself; the developer never sees them.

Outside services the app contacts

To do some things, the app asks free public services for information. Like any website, these services can see your device’s IP address and the request. They receive no name, account or library.

Camera and location

The camera is used only when you scan a barcode, scan a cover or take a photo of a book’s cover, back or spine. Those pictures never leave your device. Your location is asked for only if you choose “Use my location” or tap the temperature display, for the live window and the temperature, and it is stored rounded on your device. You can say no to both and still use everything else.

Children

The app is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Your choices

You can see, change, export or delete everything at any time inside the app. Deleting the app or its data removes it completely. Because the developer holds no data about you, there is nothing to request or delete on the developer’s side.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
