Terms of use

Effective September 29, 2026

Using the app

My Bookshelf is a free personal app for keeping track of the books you read. You may use it for your own personal, non-commercial use.

Your content

Your books, notes, quotes and images belong to you and stay on your device. Only add images and text you have the right to use.

Backups are your responsibility

Because your library is stored only on your device, it can be lost if the app or browser data is deleted, the device is lost or reset, or storage fails. Please use Export regularly to keep a backup. The developer cannot recover lost data.

Book information and covers

Book details, covers and genres come from Open Library and Google Books and may be incomplete or wrong. Covers and titles belong to their publishers and authors and are shown only to help you recognize your books. Weather data comes from Open-Meteo.com. My Bookshelf is not affiliated with or endorsed by Open Library, the Internet Archive, Google, Open-Meteo, Goodreads or The StoryGraph; those names are used only to describe compatibility.

No warranty

The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or uninterrupted availability.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, the developer is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of the app. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be waived.

Changes

These terms may be updated; the new version will be posted here with a new date. Continuing to use the app means you accept the updated terms.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
